KID attended the Partnership Days Conference in Nairobi
The Indonesian Community for Democracy (or Komunitas Indonesia untuk Demokrasi, KID) participated in the Partnership Days Conference held in Nairobi Kenya on 10-14 June 2009. The Conference was organized by NIMD in collaboration with CMD Kenya, an NIMD partner organization in Kenya. The Conference theme was Documenting Democratic Impact on (1) Democratic Reform; (2) Partnership; (3) Political Accountability; and (4) Conflict Resolution and Elections. The Conference was participated by 90 people coming from 17 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Indonesia is the only country in Asia.
The KID sent two delegates: Prof. Anita Lie (Board Member) and Heny Soelistyowati (Program Manager). They were to share how KID has been implementing the School of Democracy in Indonesia. Among the NIMD partners, there are three countries that have political education program: Indonesia, Suriname and South Africa. However, Indonesia applies a more comprehensive approach in implementing the program. It is suggested that the program model could be transferred and applied in other countries such as Mozambique which has proposed to hold similar political education.
